UKMI Launch MiDatabank
MiDatabank is a paperless medicines information enquiry management system.
The MiDatabank system has been developed over the last two years by CoAcS Ltd in collaboration with UKMI. It is intended that MiDatabank will become a national system for the UK and replace paper based records and also the various computer based systems currently in use. Information can then be shared instantly between medicines information centres accross the UK. A number of the existing systems have evolved using database software, often MS Access, intended for home or small office use. These systems are now showing their age and in addition, MS Access based systems have limited reliability with multiple users and do not allow adequate security or audit trails. Pilot versions of MiDatabank have been extensively tested by UKMI pharmacists.
